Rebecca O’Rourke

Occupational Therapist

I’m an Occupational Therapist with 18 years of experience, specialising in mental health and psychotherapy. I work with people across the lifespan and am passionate about supporting individuals to move toward more connected and meaningful lives.

My therapeutic approach is collaborative, client-centred, and trauma-informed. I aim to create a safe, validating space where clients can work towards their goals. This may be making sense of past experiences, building self-compassion, processing trauma, or developing the skills needed for lasting change. I don’t believe therapy is about ‘fixing’ or making emotions go away. It is about expanding our capacity to feel, regulate, relate to others, and respond to life in ways that are guided by our values.

At the heart of my work is a strong belief that our mind, brain and body are innately designed to heal. In a therapeutic environment tailored to their needs, people can shift long-standing patterns, reconnect with their inner strengths, and create lives that feel more authentic and fulfilling.

I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches, including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). I also have a particular interest in working with neurodivergent clients and adapting therapy to support individual sensory and emotional needs.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time in nature, staying active, camping, cooking (mostly eating!), reading both fiction and psychology books, diving into my special interests, and connecting with the people I love.

  • Neurodiversity-affirming therapy

  • Anxiety and Depression

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EDMR)
